Midwest Home Improvements
Remodeling means changing the structure or function of a space, not just refreshing its surface. That distinction matters because it changes the scope, the permits, and the cost. Finishing a basement, reconfiguring a kitchen layout, or opening a wall between rooms is remodeling. If you're researching how much a basement finishing or full-room remodel costs, the honest answer is that it depends on size, condition, materials, and how much of the structural work is involved. What we can tell you is this: Midwest Home Improvements has been doing this work since 1993, and Stephen Bonander built this company on the idea that you should get a straight answer and a fair price before a single nail goes in. Call us at (715) 894-1120 and we'll walk through your project together.
For a complete home remodeling project, costs can run anywhere from $5,000 for a focused single-room renovation to $80,000 or more for a full gut-and-rebuild. What drives that range? Square footage, the condition of what's already there, whether you're moving plumbing or electrical, the finish level you want, and how much access a crew has to work efficiently. A basement finishing, for example, sits in the $15,000 to $60,000+ range depending on whether you're adding a bathroom, building egress windows, or finishing a raw concrete box into a livable suite. We'll tell you what drives cost on your specific job and help you decide where to spend and where to save. Every job is different. Contact Midwest Home Improvements for an accurate estimate.

People use the words renovation and remodeling interchangeably, but they're not the same thing. Renovation restores or updates what's already there. Remodeling changes the form or function of a space. Refinishing cabinet doors is renovation. Removing a wall to open up a kitchen is remodeling. That matters because remodeling often involves permits, structural considerations, and a longer timeline. At Midwest Home Improvements, we handle both. We do kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, basement finishing, home additions, and everything in between. You don't need to know which category your project falls into before you call us. That's our job to figure out.
Cabinet reconfiguration, layout changes, countertop replacement, tile work. We focus on making your kitchen function the way you actually cook. See our kitchen remodeling work.
Old tile, failing fixtures, cramped layouts. We've seen all of it. Our bathroom remodeling work runs from single-fixture swaps to full gut-and-rebuild jobs.
Raw concrete to finished living space. We plan the layout, handle framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, and lighting. Basement finishing is one of the highest-ROI remodels you can do.
Adding a bedroom, sunroom, or in-law suite? Our home additions work is designed to match your existing structure, not just bolt something onto it.
We install one-of-a-kind custom windows built to fit your opening exactly. Not a stock size crammed into a rough frame.
From decks and railing to stamped and colored concrete, we handle the exterior projects that extend your living space outside.
Our Work
Here's what separates a remodel that holds up from one that doesn't. Corners that are truly square. Tile lines that stay level across the full run, not just the first few feet. Trim that's coped at inside corners, not just mitered and hoping the gap doesn't open up. Plumbing and electrical that's roughed in before drywall goes up, not retrofitted through finished walls later. We don't cut those steps. The cheap option almost always costs more by the time you call us to fix it. We won't recommend a shortcut that saves you money this year and causes a problem in three. That's just not how we work.
Honest advice and a clear estimate β no pressure, no obligation.
Size is the most obvious factor, but it's rarely the most important one. Condition matters more. A basement that's dry, level, and properly insulated costs far less to finish than one with moisture issues, an uneven floor, or undersized electrical service. The finish level you choose has a huge impact too. Stock cabinets and LVP flooring are not the same cost as custom cabinetry and hardwood. Moving plumbing or electrical service adds cost in labor and permits. Access matters too. A basement with a wide stairwell and open framing is easier to work in than one with a tight entry and steel posts in the wrong places. We'll walk you through the cost drivers on your specific project before you commit to anything. Every job is different. Contact Midwest Home Improvements for an accurate estimate.
Reviews
We let the work do the talking. Here's what homeowners across the region have said after working with us.
Stephen and his crew did our kitchen from top to bottom. Every detail was handled exactly the way we discussed. No surprises on the final bill. I'd hire them again without hesitation.
We had a bathroom that hadn't been touched since the 70s. Midwest Home Improvements came in, gave us a straight quote, and finished on time. The tile work alone is worth every penny.
Honest people. They told us what they could do, did exactly that, and didn't try to upsell us on work we didn't need. That's harder to find than it should be.
